Training courses on EU Consumer Law will concern judges from different regions/jurisdiction of Moldova which are interested in a complex resolution of consumer disputes based on EU framework and jurisprudence of the Court of Justice of the European Union.
This course concerns the origin, content and applicability of the principals of the consumer economic interests applicable in Republic of Moldova and Europe. At the end of the course, the audience will be well acquainted with the main issue of consumer’s rights and stakeholder’s duties in Moldova, especially in the European Union, from the theoretical and practical point of view, as well from the perspective of legal and political science.

”World Consumer Rights Day”
Theme ” Trusted Smart Products”
Jean Monnet Chair in EU Consumer Protection Policy (EU4CONS) policies , in partnership with the State Agency for Consumer Protection and Market Surveillance on 15 March 2019, organized an event dedicated to World Consumers Rights Day. The theme proposed this year by the Consumers International is “Trusted Smart Products“, which aims to provide consumers with the knowledge to buy Smart products safe to usege, as well as developing their decision-making power over their rights as consumers.
The event was also attended by internationally invited representatives from the Romanian, French, Ukrainian and Armenian institutions that have exposed the national experience of consumer protection through international practices. In this context, the major objectives of the consumer protection institution in the Republic of Moldova are the development of cooperation relations through the exchange of experience and the taking of good practices from the developed countries in this respect.
Representatives of ministries, associations, which have an important role to play in supporting and defending consumer rights, were also present. The events was also attended by students and academia, and by representative of civil society and NGOs.
World Consumer Rights Day must be an impetus for raising national and global awareness of the significant contribution consumers have in contributing to the sustainable development of a society and encouraging economic agents to focus on product quality and services, on the road to prosperity and growth.

“Electronic Commerce and Consumer Protection”
On 15 November 2018, the first Jean Monnet Workshop was held: “Electronic Commerce and Consumer Protection”, Jean Monnet Chair in EU Consumer Protection Policy (EU4CONS) policies.
The project makes it possible and even needed in both the urban and rural areas – through correct communication – the transmission of the sense of responsibility in
the prospect of knowing the realities of e-commerce by identifying and becoming aware of major issues of virtual commercial operations.Today, the EU is the largeste-commerce market in the world, including e-tourism.Promoting consumer confidence in e-commerce was, therefore,
an important element since the beginning of the e-commerce talks in international forums. Workshop “E-Commerce and Consumer Protection”is organized by ASEM in partnership with the State Agency for Consumer Protection and Market Surveillance and ensures the participation of different target groups,including attracting various experts in the field of consumer protection.
We see this Workshop as a challenge for the whole society as the actors will be civil servants, teachers, researchers, students, representatives of civil society (including youth organizations, each representing a part ofsociety, and as a whole, the entire society of the Republic of Moldova.
During the event, presentations were presented on the impact of e-commerce on the business environment, the application of the Law no. 131 of 2012 on the state control of entrepreneurial activity, as well as the protection of personal data and intellectual property in the context of consumer protection.
The presentations were supported by experts from Romania within the framework of the National Authority for Consumer Protection, the Agency for Consumer Protection and Market Surveillance, the State Agency for Intellectual Property, representatives of the business environment, PhD students.
The participants, over 90, debated the most stringent issues related to online trade, the normative acts in the field, by ensuring the protection of consumers and their economic interests. They focused on the multidimensional aspect of online commerce, analyzing the history of the emergence of electronic commerce, country statistics on online purchases, and the advancement of the Republic of Moldova in this respect.The debates at the event also focused on modern systems and technologies for managing the online communication platforms of authorities, as well as consumer analysis through medical, commercial, etc. services. As a result of the increase in complaints about online purchases, the purpose of the event is to increase the level of consumer education on the use of online commerce, as well as to supervise the field of e-commerce security by monitoring the activity of economic agents in respect of compliance force.
